Exclamatory sentence to Assertive sentence

1.       

Subject and Verb of exclamatory sentence are to be used as the subject and verb of assertive sentence at the outset of the sentence.

How/what

a)      How fortunate you are!

b)      What a fool you are!

Very(before adjective)/ Great(before noun)

 

 

 

a)      You are very fortunate.

b)      You are a great fool.

Sometimes the subject and verb may be eclipsed.

a)      What a beautiful scenery it is!

b)      What a pity!

It is a very/It is a great

a)      It is a very beautiful scenery.

b)      It is a great pity.

Hurrah/ Bravo

Hurrah! We have own the game.

I/we rejoice that/ It is a matter of joy that.

It is a matter of joy that we have won the game.

Alas

Alas! He has failed.

I/we Mourn that/ It is a matter of sorrow or grief that.

We mourn that he has failed.

5.       

Had/were/If /Would that(at the outset)

a)      Had I the wings of a bird!

b)      Were I a bird!

c)      If I were young again!

d)      Would that I could be a child!

I wish + subject again + were/ had+ rest part.

a)      I wish I had the wings of a bird.
